Man’s body found after Sydney house fire

A man’s body has been found after a fire ripped through a home in Sydney’s west early this morning.

Firefighters were called to the blaze at the single-level home on O’Brien St at Mount Druitt just after 1am.

When they arrived, the fire had burned into the roof and black smoke was billowing from the home.

They put out the fire by 2.15am and a woman managed to escape the burning building uninjured.

However, the townhouse was extensively damaged and a man’s body was found inside, police said. He is yet to be formally identified.

Officers have set up a crime scene, while the cause of the fire is still unknown.

Emergency services remain at the scene.
