On the morning of Jan. 1, people around the globe began working on their New Year’s resolutions, trying to kick old habits and become better versions of themselves. Thanks to a new tweet, we know that one of those people was rapper YG.
In a tweet posted just minutes into 2020 on New Year’s Day, YG took a moment to reflect on some of his past behaviors and issue a formal apology to queer people everywhere. “It’s been brought to my attention that my old views on life was ignorant,” he wrote. “I apologize to the LGBTQ kommunity for ever komin across like i was anything but respectful and accepting. Live. Love. Ya Life. Gang!”
Many users quickly thanked YG for putting his tweet out, saying that his outward apology showed growth. Some skeptics said that they wanted to see a change in his behavior before they could accept his apology. Some other users commented that YG’s change of heart may have been spurred on by his public relationship last year with R&B star Kehlani, who openly identifies as bisexual.
