Georgia vs. Baylor live score, updates, highlights from Sugar Bowl 2020

Only one game remains on the New Year’s Day — and New Year’s 6 — slate Wednesday: No. 5 Georgia vs. No. 8 Baylor in the Sugar Bowl.

Both the Bulldogs and Bears enter this game coming off disappointing losses, although in different fashion. Georgia was manhandled 37-10 by No. 1 LSU in the SEC championship game, getting run out of virtually its own house in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. A win there would have got the Bulldogs to their second College Football Playoff in three seasons. But a second straight loss in the conference title game instead earned them a second straight Sugar Bowl berth.

Baylor also had Playoff aspirations heading into conference championship weekend. But the Bears lost their second hard-fought game to Oklahoma, this time 30-23, to fall out of Playoff contention. That said, Baylor had one of its best seasons in program history under Sporting News Coach of the Year Matt Rhule, going 11-2 two seasons after going 1-11. The Bears will put everything on the line for Rhule on Wednesday — can the same be said for Georgia, which will be without several starters and came out flat against Texas in this game last season?
