Mariah Carey Has the Best Response to Becoming the First Artist to Rule Billboard Hot 100 in Four Decades| Billboard

The decade is coming to a close this week, with Mariah Carey once more ruling the charts.

Her holiday classic, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” spends a third week atop the latest Billboard Hot 100, dated Jan. 4, 2020, following its No. 1 rank on the charts dated Dec. 21 and Dec. 28, 2019. The 1994 tune became Carey’s 19th No. 1, after she earned 14 chart toppers in the 1990s and four in the 2000s.

As a result, Carey becomes the first artist to top the Hot 100 in four separate decades. Carey took to Twitter on Monday (Dec. 30) to celebrate, exclaiming, “Yaaaaaaaaay!!! WE. DID. IT,” with a number of celebration emojis.

But that’s not all. The chanteuse added the most Mariah Carey-esque dismissal of age and the passage of time, hilariously writing, “But…. what’s a decade?”
