A British tabloid has it that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are spending their New Year’s Eve abroad. The Mirror reported this weekend that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are still in Canada. The two will allegedly be spending New Year’s Eve in a $13.14 million waterfront mansion with Meghan’s mother Doria Ragland and their son Archie.
According to the outlet, the house has a pizza oven in its kitchen, a games room, a two-story living room, and a wine-tasting room in addition to its many bedrooms and bathrooms. The Mirror reports that the couple has been there for almost the last two weeks and are expected to stay until Friday. The mansion’s exact location was not revealed, out of respect of privacy to the couple, who has been taking an extended break from royal duties since the end of November.
One local deli owner told the outlet that it’s not surprising Meghan and Harry chose the home to stay in. “It’s an incredible property, and one of the most prestigious around here,” the owner said. “I wasn’t surprised when I found out Harry and Meghan are staying there. It’s certainly fit for royalty.”
Meghan and Harry’s spokesperson confirmed the two have been in Canada for their break right before Christmas. “As has been reported, Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are spending private time in Canada,” the spokesperson said. “The decision to base themselves in Canada reflects the importance of this Commonwealth country to them both. Whilst this emails confirms the country they are taking their family time in, for security reasons we will not be releasing any further details and request that their privacy is respected.”
“The Duke of Sussex has been a frequent visitor to Canada over many years, and it was also home to The Duchess for seven years before she became a member of the Royal Family,” the spokesperson continued. “They are enjoying sharing the warmth of the Canadian people and the beauty of the landscape with their young son.”
