The body of a young man who went missing while kayaking with friends on New Year’s Eve has been found.
The 25-year-old man set out about 7.45pm yesterday on a trip with mates to Budgewoi Lake in Toukley, on the New South Wales Central Coast.
Police said the kayakers “were unable to return to shore when conditions worsened on the water”.
Two of the group were later rescued about 500 metres south of the Buff Point Reserve.
Local police, with the help of a helicopter, Marine Rescue and Roads and Maritime Services continued to search the lake for the missing young man.
His body was found just before 11am today in the water off Budgewoi. A report will be prepared for the coroner.

A number of other people on Wednesday afternoon were still missing including two fishermen, aged 37 and 70, in Coffs Harbour and 54-year-old jet ski rider Anthony Schilperoort on the Gold Coast. All three men also disappeared on Sunday, December 29.
